Football Wraps Up Home Schedule vs. FIU
Kennesaw State football wraps up its home schedule on Saturday when it hosts FIU on Nov. 23 at Fifth Third Stadium for Senior Day. • Kennesaw State alumnus and football Hall of Famer Chandler Burks was named the Owls’ interim head coach on Nov. 10. Burks took the reins as the Owls’ interim head coach and is in his fourth season coaching at KSU.

Within every single game they play, it's coming down to the wire. They're taking people to overtime. They've done a good job on defense and offense, creating a ton of explosives. Their quarterback, Jenkins, does a phenomenal job of distributing the ball effectively. They have a really good wide receive on the outside who's leading the league right now in yards per game.

Dealing with the loss of the only head coach they had ever known to facing a 7-2 playoff bound opponent, the Owls showed some grit overcoming a lot of adversity to keep the game close with the game tied at 3, again at 10 and again at 17 before finally going into overtime. A missed field goal in OT made it easy for SHSU who then needed any points for the win.

Kennesaw State football returns home Saturday in the first of its final two home games of the 2024 season on Nov. 16 against Sam Houston. KSU alumnus and football letterwinner Chandler Burks makes his debut as the Owls’ interim head coach. Burks took the reins on Sunday and is in his 4th season coaching at KSU after induction into the KSU Athletics Hall of Fame.

Kennesaw State put up 240 yards of offense in the second half alone to fight back and force overtime, but ultimately dropped the heartbreaker, 43-35, to UTEP Saturday at the Sun Bowl. Defensively, the Owls were led by a career day from LB Donelius Johnson with 15 stops (eight solo) as well as a half-sack. Milon Jones and Jordan Miles also recorded 9 tackles.
